The "From Your Instructor" panel on the Mediathread home page

General background

Mediathread offers instructors a panel on the home page in which they can post information for the class, syllabi, model responses, assignments, and discussion topics.

This panel appears on the left side of the home page, under the general heading "From Your Instructor".  If an instructor does not post anything for the class, the "From Your Instructor" panel will not be visible to students.

Sections in "From Your Instructor"

Information

Any composition that is created and saved by an instructor on the "Whole Class" or "World" level (see related article) will appear under a "Information" header in the the From Your Instructor panel.  This allows instructors to post a syllabus, or a model assignment response, or any other information that is useful for a class working in Mediathread.  "Information" posts will list alphabetically by title.

To remove a post from the "From Your Instructor" panel, open it in edit view and save it as a draft, or delete it altogether.

Assignments

Any composition that is created and saved by an instructor as an "Assignment for Class" will appear under an "Assignment header in the From Your Instructor panel (see related article).  Assignment posts will list alphabetically by title; to preserve a chronological order, you may wish to start an assignment title with a number or date.

To "unpost" an assignment, open it in edit view and save it on the draft level, or delete it altogether.

Discussions

Only instructors can create discussions in Mediathread (see related article).  This can be done by clicking the Create Discussion button in the Instructor Dashboard.  Once a discussion has been created, any member of the class is able to post to it.

To delete a discussion, click the trash icon next to its title in the From Your Instructor panel on the home page.
