Automatic notification that a new file has been uploaded to the course is managed by each user in their notification preferences. By default, notification for file uploads to a course are not turned on for your students. If you would like to give students the option to get notifications when a file is uploaded, it is important to include in your course syllabus or other communication that students should access their notification preferences and turn on notification for file activity.
Alternatively, you may decide to announce new file uploads using the announcement tool in Canvas. Notifications for announcements are set automatically to ASAP for each user.
