You can copy information from one CourseWorks course to another by importing the materials. This can be helpful if you have a previous version of the course so that you do not have to start over from scratch. You can always edit the material and adjust dates in the new course.
If you are an instructor, you can only import content from your previous courses. Admins can import content from any course in the account. Copying course content does not copy student work. For example, copying an Assignment does not bring over student work from a previous semester.
To import course content:
- Start in the course you want to import content to
- Select the “Import Course Content” tool on the left side of the Home Page
- Select “copy a Canvas course” from the drop down menu
- Find the course you want to copy and choose whether to copy all, or some content
- Click “Import”

Important Note: Importing course content more than once may have unintended consequences. If you import content into a new course, edit it and then later import the previous content again, the imported content may override or merge with the existing content. For this reason we recommend only importing content once.
